The Office of Equity will serve as the primary point of contact for lactation spaces on the CU Denver | CU Anschutz campuses. Our office will work with you to get connected to resources that best suit your needs.
If you are bringing a visitor to campus who needs lactation access, direct arrangements for space accessibility will be made for the visitor depending on campus location for the event/conference/meeting. To coordinate appropriate arrangements for visitors needing lactation access, email the OE at equity@ucdenver.edu.
Register with the Lactation Connection! If you are pregnant or need to utilize a lactation space on campus, please fill out our "Pregnancy and Parenting Form." Completing this form allows for our office to request badge access and enrolls you into our EMS Lactation Space Reservation System. This form also assists our office with getting you connected with the correct office for any pregnancy related accommodations.
Note*: Images of the lactation spaces displayed are examples of lactation room types. Not all lactation spaces will look the same.
The university values feedback on ways to improve lactation spaces on the CU Denver | CU Anschutz campuses in order to meet the needs of our lactation space users. Contact our office to share any feedback regarding your experience in our lactation spaces.
In March of 2022, the Office of Policy and Efficiency (OPE) announced the Regent approval of a new policy titled, the CU System Administrative Policy Statement (APS 3005)-Lactation Spaces. This new policy requires the development and implementation of campus lactation policies on all four CU campuses. Specifically for CU Denver | CU Anschutz, there is a Lactation Space Policy (Policy 3061), as well as additional university guidelines the OE administers to support pregnant and parenting students. Please review each policy to learn more about the University’s endeavors to provide time, space, and reasonable adjustments to the work or education programs to support students and employees who choose to breastfeed and/or express breastmilk.
The CU Denver | CU Anschutz campuses prohibit discrimination on the basis of fifteen protected characteristics, which includes pregnancy. Visit our University Policies and Procedures page to learn more about the Nondiscrimination Policy.
The university also provides Pregnancy and Parenting Guidelines that set forth the protections that should be provided for pregnant and parenting students, including those with pregnancy-related conditions. You can also review the Children in the Workplace and/or Classroom Guidelines document, which outlines the very limited circumstances under which it is permissible to bring non-student, minor children to the workplace or classroom.
The university is required to provide reasonable accommodations for students, staff, and faculty related to disability, religion, and pregnancy. Visit our Accommodation Resources page to review additional resources related to pregnancy and parenting.
