Message from the Director | Summer 2024
Embracing Disability Pride Month with Vision and Impact
Cathy Bodine P.h.D., CCC-SLP Aug 6, 2024July was Disability Pride Month, and this was a perfect moment for us to reflect on what truly drives us at the Center for Inclusive Design and Engineering (CIDE).
Our vision is simple yet profound: a world where all people with disabilities and those aging into disability can live their lives to the fullest—at home, school, work, and play—without any barriers, through technology solutions. This passion for inclusivity brings together an amazing team of engineers, students, clinicians, consumers, designers, and entrepreneurs, all working together to create innovative solutions that make a real difference.
This summer has been especially inspiring. At our AT Clinic, we have seen the transformative impact of our work firsthand, as individuals benefit from the latest assistive technologies. We congratulate the dedicated, hard-working, creative professionals providing Assistive Technology services in Colorado public schools, ensuring that students receive the support they need to thrive. We also celebrate the success of the Surviving in Place program, which helps people live independently and safely in their homes. It is incredibly rewarding to see our bioengineering students graduate with a deeper understanding of human-centered design, ready to contribute to a more inclusive world.
As we move forward, we remain steadfast in our mission and invite you to join us in creating a world without barriers and full of possibilities for everyone. Warm regards,
Dr. Cathy Bodine
